My story
Hi, I’m Joe - welcome to my website! I’m an artist based in Norwich, UK. You might find this space slightly lighter on artistic jargon than expected. That’s intentional - I prefer to let the work speak for itself, and I think my story explains a bit of that.
I originally studied neuroscience, driven by a fascination with the mind -how we think, feel, and perceive the world. Living with the intensity of my own emotional landscape led me back to art, not just as expression, but as a way to explore the world, and to stabilise myself.
Since February 2025, I’ve been working as a professional artist. In that time, I’ve taken part in over 15 exhibitions across the UK, been a resident artist at Chequer House Gallery in King’s Lynn, and I’m currently based at Anteros Arts Foundation in Norwich. I regularly exhibit across Norfolk and beyond.
I work primarily in acrylic and watercolour, often shifting between styles, from impressionistic softness to more expressive, emotionally charged pieces. My work reflects movement in mood and perception; I don’t try to fix a single identity in my art, because I don’t experience life that way. Instead, I lean into change, letting each piece capture a moment in a broader journey.
My work centres around themes of urban life, nature, duality, and mental health. I often layer materials -spray paint, inks, oil pastels, and acrylics- usually applied with a palette knife.
Outside of painting, I enjoy cycling, boxing, hiking, music of all kinds, and a thousand niche interests too long to list here.
